Training Clinics

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

  • Starter, Referee, Judges [both Stroke and Touch/Turn], and Console Operators are required to complete training.  Certification is good for 2 years for Starter, Referee and Judges; certification must be renewed annually for Console Operators.
  • Please be sure to update your profile to include [WSST] after your name.  You will be prompted to do this as the first step in the training.  This is the only way WHALe can assign your training to our team.

Welcome to the WHALe Training Academy

Please Note: All certification training will be open for enrollment from April 1st to May 27, 2019. Any training incomplete at the end of May will not obtain a certification in 2019. All course enrollees are able to revisit the training material at any time during the season, but the certification period will close on May 27th.

You may choose the appropriate course by clicking All Courses. Course offerings and requirements include:

Console Operator Training

Console operators will train and be certified to run the timing and Meet Maestro systems during a WHALe meet. This requires an annual certification. In order to obtain this 2019 certification, each individual seeking certification must attend one of the following two hands-on, classroom-based training sessions. Please register for one of these sessions by contacting your team's WHALe Representative. Teams should bring their team laptops to this training.

  1. Thursday, April 25 - 6:00pm
  2. Saturday, April 27 - 9:00am

Stroke/Turn Judge Training

Stroke/Turn judges and officials will train to identify stroke, touch, and turn infractions. This requires a bi-annual certification. The 2019 certification will be valid during 2019 and any online certification obtained in 2019 will remain valid through the 2020 season. In order to obtain the 2019 certification, the following course must be completed:

  1. 2019 – Stroke and Turn Officials Training
  2. 2019 – Attend one in-person training session (for new officials or for officials who have not officiated a meet during the last two seasons):
